Hey there! Wanna work with us? Great, because we want to work with you. We’re constantly on the prowl for the best and brightest southern personalities to feature with a special focus on food, drink, publishing (southern fiction, non-fiction + heirloom skills and hobbies), family and lifestyle.
We are a family-friendly brand that celebrates all that is good and cozy and wonderful about the south.
A bit about our demographics:
- Eighty percent of our readers are female and between the ages of 35-54.
- They primarily live in the South Eastern region of the United States, particularly: North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and Tennesse
andAlabama, but with a surprisingly nice (but smaller) percentage in New York and Washington DC.
- They come to Due South for content on southern food + recipes, book recommendations (especially cozy mysteries) and family fun.
- Most of our male readers come for the features on beer, wine
- Our readers are most engaged when we’re sharing content about southern food + beverage, books
andarts and crafts.
There are several ways we can work together.
On Being Southern – We’re looking for traditionally published authors, southern living influencers, established southern mom bloggers, food & beverage industry celebs, etc. to write essays on what being southern means to them, how it has influenced them and what they love about being from the south the most.
Traveling While Southern – We’d love to see share content featuring travel throughout the southeastern USA (lots of pics!), or essays on being a southerner abroad (comparing the similarities of southern culture in unexpected places!).
Cozyville – We are looking for authors of small-town romance, cozy mystery, women’s fiction and southern fiction and non-fiction to share what you love about your favorite small town. Pitch us your ideas to cover your favorite: coffee shop, teahouse, bookstore, B&B, craft brewery or distillery, craft shop, etc.
Southern Scribe Vibes – We love it when writers get together and start vibing… hence one of our favorite columns on Due South. We’re looking for traditionally published authors to interview other traditionally published authors. Let us know if you have an author who’d like to interview or an author to be interviewed.
Will Write For Biscuits – Our newest column highlights southern authors who love to cook. They can write a food essay about their favorite southern food memories, share a recipe (with images and or video) or be interviewed by one of our writers about how and why southern food has impacted their writing.
We can’t get enough southern foodie content. Give us all the southern food recipe posts and recipes. Our approach to content is seasonal, so right now we’d love to have content featuring: strawberries, blueberries, and spring and summertime dishes, plus articles featuring picnics, BBQs and garden parties!
Have an idea for an article from your client that we haven’t mentioned? Let us know, it just might be the article we never knew we needed.
We have an insatiable desire to find the very best southern fiction and non-fiction being published today! Have a book you think would be perfect for our readers? Let us know. We’re open to all genres, with a special interest in small-town romance, women’s fiction, thrillers and mysteries (including cozies), literary, commercial and book club.
For non-fiction, we’re interested in reviewing southern lifestyle, food and travel-related subjects, history, sub-cultures of the south, family-oriented subjects like homemaking, homeschooling, parenting, arts and crafts and heirloom skills like knitting, canning, woodworking and homesteading, etc.
