Four Hallmark Movies With Military Themes To Watch This Christmas

by Staff Writer

Everyone knows someone in the military. And if you have served, or are a military spouse or dependent, you understand how important the holidays are and how meaningful it feels to spend that time together. Watching Hallmark military movies at Christmas can foster even more holiday joy for military families and for those who love, support, and honor the men and women who serve.

There is something about a military themed Christmas movie that feels especially heartfelt. It may be the reminder that behind every uniform is a family waiting at home. It could be the real-life tension between duty and togetherness or the quiet comforting moments that happen when someone finally makes it home for the holidays. These stories often reflect the spirit of service, sacrifice, hope, and connection. All of these naturally fit the meaning of Christmas.

Hallmark military movies are especially good at capturing this balance. They are never too heavy or stressful. Instead, they offer a gentle mix of romance, patriotism, family reconnection, and holiday charm. They are easy to settle into with a mug of cocoa, the Christmas tree lit in the background, and the sense that for a short time everything will turn out the way you hope.

These movies also resonate with civilians who may not have direct military experience. They explore familiar emotions such as missing someone you love, navigating long-distance relationships, rebuilding life after a deployment, or finding your rhythm at home again. For those with military ties, these stories often feel like a warm acknowledgment of the unique joys and challenges that come with serving.

Whether you are curled up beside your military spouse, putting together care packages for a loved one far away, or simply enjoying a quiet evening with a comforting story, Hallmark military movies are a meaningful way to add more Christmas spirit to your home.

Here are four of our favorite Christmas movies featuring the military.

USS Christmas

Maddie, a reporter for a Norfolk newspaper, embarks on a Tiger Cruise during Christmastime where she meets a handsome naval officer and stumbles upon a mystery in the ship’s archive room.

This movie was actually filmed in Norfolk, Virginia and written by Dateline correspondent, Andrea Canning, who is married to a former Marine Corp fighter pilot. Look for beautiful water views and a patriotic romance.

Five More Minutes

Five More Minutes is about a woman’s Christmas wish is answered in unexpected ways when her late grandfather’s journal turns up and reveals an untold romance.

While this story was shot in Canada, it is set in Fayetteville, NC and around Ft. Bragg. Fayetteville has never looked so charming! This is a heartwarming story with a sweet twist at the end. Bring your hanky!

Five More Minutes is inspired by Scott MCreary’s song of the same name.  McCreary is a country music singer who rose to fame after winning the tenth season of American Idol in 2011.
