Pumpkin Patch Fun: The Family Farm On Avent Ferry In Holly Springs, NC

I recently discovered The Family Farm On Avent Ferry in Holly Springs, NC in search of blue pumpkins. I’d been to a couple other local pumpkin patches in Western Wake County

that I enjoyed but didn’t have those gorgeous shabby chic blue pumpkins I needed for the pastels and muted colors in my living room. The Family Farm On Avent Ferry had what iI was looking for and much more.

The Family Farm On Avent Ferry In Holly Springs, NC

Holly Springs is a suburban area, but it has some beautiful rural areas just a few minutes from the sprawling shopping centers that attract so many locals. The Family Farm On Avent Ferry is located in one of these areas. And it’s one of my favorite things about this pumpkin patch. You can easily slip away to a peaceful farm setting with animals, pumpkins, mums and snow cones.

This farm, steeped in over six generations of family history includes a barn, a pasture and farming land. In addition to selling pumpkins, they have hay bales, flint corn, gourds and cornstalks available for purchase. Children can climb on hay bales and visitors can take pictures on their old pickup truck and tractor for cozy fall images.

When I arrived, the first thing that really caught my attention was the beautiful staging of the pumpkins. They are arranged and styled in multiple nooks and crannies like a window in a beautiful department store. Every few steps I was wowed by a new set-up.

There are pumpkins inside. There are pumpkins outside. There are pumpkins on chairs. There are pumpkins on stairs! I couldn’t stop taking pictures. Every staging was more gorgeous than the next. I was able to find small pumpkins, large pumpkins. White pumpkins. Pink pumpkins.

There were smooth pumpkins. Nubby pumpkins. Literally something for every pumpkin lover.

I even found gorgeous rose-gold gourds.

After I had my fill of pumpkins, I wandered over to the fence line and enjoyed a peaceful scene of cows and horses grazing together. In the distance, was more grassy land and a shimmering lake. It was lovely just to take deep breaths of fresh air and gaze at the animals.

On our my way to purchase our pumpkins (my youngest son was with me) we first passed all of the mums. Rows and rows of large, fluffy, multi-colored fall flowers. If I hadn’t already purchased seven pots full of burgundy and purple mums I would’ve purchased some here. They looked great.

But we did stop at a snow cone booth. It’s open year round and has all the flavors a kid (or grownup) could want. Especially nice on the very warm fall day we visited.

I left with a very full red wagon full of pumpkins, big ones and small ones of all colors, perfect for my yard and inside my home.

Pumpkin Season begins on September 21st, coinciding with the first Saturday of Fall. The pumpkin patch will be open weekdays from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Sundays from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the cozy farm atmosphere and seasonal activities throughout the end of October.
